Memorial Day 2024

VFW Post 3873, American Legion Post 43, and the Naperville Municipal Band will conduct their regular Memorial Day observance activities on Monday, May 27, 2024.  The day’s events will begin with a memorial service behind City Hall at the Commander Dan Shanower/9-11 Memorial followed by additional memorial services at various military memorials around Naperville.  The schedule for the morning's memorial services is:

7:45 am - CDR Dan Shanower/9-11 Memorial at City Hall

8:15 am - G.A.R. Monument in Naperville Cemetery (south side of cemetery)

8:35 am - Veterans Park (100 E. Gartner Road)

9:00 am - Ss Peter & Paul Cemetery (911 North Avenue)

9:25 am - Burlington Square (307 N. Ellsworth Street)

The Memorial Day Parade will also occur again this year and is scheduled to begin at 10:30 am.  A Memorial Day Observance Ceremony will be held at Central Park following the parade, beginning at approximately 12:00 pm.  Members of the community are invited to join us as we conduct our memorial services and to come out to observe the parade.

We ask that residents help us observe Memorial Day this year by taking time to remember the significance of the day and to teach our youth that it is about more than BBQ’s, pool openings, and parades.  We also ask that you participate in the National Moment of Remembrance, by observing one minute of silence at 3:00 pm for the many military veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice and lost their lives in service to our country, including the 114 residents of Naperville that died while on Active Duty.
